THE AUTHOR OF TRUTH
SCRIPTURE
“You stiff necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit! Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered Him. You who have received the law that was given through angels but have not obeyed it.” When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul. While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he said this, he fell asleep. Acts 7:51-60
LAYERS OF TRUTH
When it comes to truth, Christian faith carries the truthiest truths.
The Scriptures of Truth (v. 53)
These men were actively rejecting the Scripture they were supposed to be defending!
“Your word is truth.” John 17:17
All Your words are true. Psalm 119:160
Every word of God proves true. Proverbs 30:5
The words of the Lord are flawless. Psalm 12:6
The grass withers & the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever. Is 40:8
The Spirit of Truth (v. 51)
These men resisted the Holy Spirit trying to pry into their hearts.
“When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth…” John 16:13
The Speakers of Truth (v. 52)
These men were repulsed by Stephen as he spoke truth.
“The best preachers are plagiarists. All they do is tell people what God has said.” T.A.
The Sum of Truth (v. 51)
In the end, these men were rejecting Jesus.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. John 1:1,14
THE RESISTANCE OF TRUTH
There can be a resistance to truth outside of the Church.
The war against truth never begins with lies. It begins with language.
There can be a resistance to truth inside the Church.
The truth of God transcends tradition, opinions, and politics.
THE TRUTH OVER ALL TRUTHS

Remember what God has done.
Let all that I am praise the Lord. May I never forget the good things He does for me. Psalm 103:2
Remember who God is.
God is personal. God is for you. God is aware. God is Savior.
God is present. God is love. God is truthful. God is good.
God is powerful. God is merciful. God is faithful.
God is just. God is King. God is eternal.
God is holy. God is independent. God is Father.
In your pain, don’t stop your ears to the truth of who God is!
