Stories from the Book of Kings | "Limping Between the Two"

The confrontation between Elijah and the prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel in 1 Kings 18 is one of the most famous, compelling stories in all of Scripture. In this story, Elijah poses a question that still challenges us even today, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal, follow him.” Mount Carmel isn’t a story of divine competition. It’s a story that exposes our deepest idols: where do we place our fear, hope, loyalty, and love in life? And what happens when the things we trust can’t answer us, save us, or give us what we’re looking for?
