The Lord's Prayer | 250 and Becoming the Answer to Jesus' Prayer
Question:
What kind of impact is your prayer life having on the people around you?
What kind of impact is your prayer life having on the people around you?
Greek: ποίημα (poíēma) = That which is made, a work, a masterpiece; our English word "poem" comes from it
"Providence is the continuous activity of God by which He preserves and governs… the way God watches over seemingly insignificant things and apparent accidents."
- Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary

"When I pray, the coincidences happen; and when I don’t, they don’t.”
- William Temple

Greek: συνεργός (sunergós) = A fellow worker, co-laborer. Synergy is when two separate things don't just add power - they multiply it.
There's supposed to be a momentum-building anointing that goes from generation to generation - the saturation of the ages in the place of prayer.
God started something in us that He wants to release exponentially through you.
They didn't think they'd see freedom in their lifetime, so they prayed for the freedom of their children and the next generation.
There's a prayer bowl over your family. There's a prayer bowl over our nation. God is looking for a new generation to resource the prayer bowls once again.
Christians, this is our family history. These prayers were for us!
"If I heard the silent whispers of slaves underneath kettle pots, how much more do I hear the silent screams of babies being aborted in your nation?"
We still need abolitionists today who will fight until every slave is freed.
Greek: κατήγορος (katḗgoros) = One who brings a charge. In Revelation 12:10, Satan is called "the accuser of the brethren." From this root comes our English word "category."
What color is your baggage?
Only a united Church can heal a divided nation.
The young generation has no idea where we came from, what we endured, or what we went through. We are actively losing our stories right now.
I had the dream, but the dream had me.

"Daddy — he just said our name."
God will set a bush on fire and then wait to see if we'll turn aside. It was only when Moses leaned into his holy moment that he heard his name called.
"Either you deal with Roe v. Wade in your courts, or I will deal with it in Mine."
God, we don't want to have to go back to another Appomattox.

The lake of God's providence is way deeper and wider than we know.

It is for freedom that Christ has set you free.
Which storyline do you want to be part of — the healing or the hurt, the blessing or the curse?

Maybe the dream speech wasn't just poetry.
Maybe it was prophecy.
Maybe it was prophecy.
Abraham Lincoln, Second Inaugural Address — March 4, 1865:
“Fondly do we hope—fervently do we pray—that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said, ‘The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.’”

Lincoln knew the nation was at a 250 year window of mercy — if we will not unite and forgive, how can the nation live?
Lincoln’s window closed with a sword. Ours can open with a Cross.
THE THREE 250's
250 years of unrequited TOIL — Lincoln’s reckoning
250 years of unrequited PRAYER — the kettle’s witness
250 years of one nation — 1776 to 2026, our fifth Jubilee

Pay close attention to your dreams and what brings you to tears. What moves you to tears is a highway to your vocation in the Kingdom.
The commitment of our forefathers, has now become the calling of our times.
Pray:
O Heavenly Father, You are our great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and mercy with those who love You. Yesterday this nation turned 250 years old, and on the first morning after, we come not to celebrate ourselves, but to seek Your face.

Pray:
Jesus, we plead Your blood over our sins and the sins of our nation. God, end abortion and send revival to America. And now, O Lord — not because we are righteous, but because You are merciful. In mercy, we ask You restrain what we deserve, and give us what we don’t deserve. Pour out Your Spirit on all flesh. Turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the children to the fathers, and heal our land.

Make us the answer to Your Son’s prayer.

Pray:
Holy Father, You have answered Jesus when He prayed for us. Now answer Jesus through us. Make us one, that the world may believe. Let the prayer we overheard in John 17 be the prayer we become.

Pray:
O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, pay attention and act! Delay not, for Your own sake, O our God — for this nation has been called by Your name! In the name of Jesus, the King of kings, we pray— amen.
