A sheepfold was an open-air enclosure designed to protect flocks of sheep from predators and thieves.
• They were usually made of thick stone walls that had tangled thorn bushed attached to the top of the enclosure kind of like barbed wire on the top of security fences.
• They had a single entrance, a door or a gate through which a shepherd entered with his sheep.

Sheepfolds were located outside agricultural cities, often on rural hillsides.
• This allowed sheep to graze in the open while being protected at night.

Not only is Jesus the door, He is also the shepherd who leads his sheep into the sheepfold.
Three Tools of the Trade:
• They had a rod, which could be described as a club which helped them fend off predators, such as wolves or jackals.
• They had a staff, a long wooden pole with a crook or curve which was used to guide the sheep and pull stray animals out of thickets or crevasses. • They had a sling, often made of leather or woven plant fibers which could be used as a weapon for protection (like the rod), or shepherds used it to drop stones near stray sheep to bring them back into the fold.

Hired Hands or Hirelings: John 10:12-13

The word “good” (in verse 11) is not just a reference to being good in a moral sense—although Jesus certainly was morally good.

His goodness is expressed in relationships (John 10:14b). The word "know" in this context, has to do with the idea of having a loving, intimate relationship.

APPLICATION
If you are a true believer in Christ, you can rest assured that you are secure in the hands of our Great Shepherd. He will guide you. He will lead you. Take this to heart and be encouraged. Take this to heart and be at peace.
There is no institution that can lay claim to being our Good Shepherd. There is no government that can make that claim. There is no political party or any politician that can make that claim. We need to quit looking at them to do what only our Good Shepherd can do.
These institutions, organizations, and political parties can never lay down their lives for us. Even if they could, they wouldn’t. They are hirelings.

Volunteers Wanted
We have several “jobs” that need attention around the church and are looking for volunteers to do them. There are tags on the bulletin board inside the office with more specific details about each job. If you’re able to help, please contact Pastor Jerry or Kim for more information.
Clean Windows
·Job 1: Use Windex to clean the sanctuary windows (inside and outside).
·Job 2: Clean the glass in all the doors and the rear of the Sanctuary.
Weed Flower Beds
·Pick a flower bed area around the building and pull weeds. This is an ongoing job, all summer long, and any one is welcomed to stop by and help anytime.
Sweep and Mop
·Sweep and/or mop the gym floor.
·This job can be divided into sections, and one can do 1/4 of the floor at a time on a rotating basis. Or it’s a great opportunity for a family to do the whole thing together.

🔥 Let It Burn: Oktoberfest 2026 🔥
Goal: $70,100
In 2010, we began collecting an Annual Oktoberfest Offering to pay our mortgage payment for the next 12 months. We financed $850,000 to build our new addition with the purpose that it be built, not only for use by FBC, but also as a community space. As of November 1, 2026, we will have an approximate balance of $70,100 left on this mortgage. Our goal is to pay it off this year! Start planning how you can help us achieve this goal so we can celebrate this historic milestone.

Summer Camp Scholarships Needed
At this time, we have 8 kids attending Lake Ann Camp this summer. A week of camp costs $600-700. If you would like to support a summer camper, scholarships are now being accepted. Partial scholarships are fine, every dollar helps! Please be sure to mark "Summer Camp" in the memo. Thank you!
Hearing Assistance Devices Available
We have hearing assistance devices available during the morning worship service which allow the user to control the volume based on their individual needs. They are available from the Sound Booth at the rear of the sanctuary and are cleaned and sanitized after each use. For questions, see Rocky Starland.
Have You Considered?
Did you know that if your bank offers online services, you can set your tithe up as a regular ‘bill payment’ through your bank? This is a convenient option to help with continuity in giving and the ability for you to tithe even when you are on vacation or miss church. It eliminates having to wonder if you turned in your offering while you were gone! If you have questions or would like more information about how to utilize this convenient option, check with your banking institution or contact the church office.

Don’t forget that your beverage can & bottle donations are used to fund teen scholarships for youth retreats, summer camps, special activities, etc. Please bring your recyclable items to the church anytime!
