Psalm 148
Psalm 147 reminds us that our praise is rooted in the character of God. He is the One who heals the brokenhearted, restores the weary, provides for His creation, and faithfully keeps every promise. In a world filled with uncertainty and discouragement, this psalm calls us to lift our eyes beyond our circumstances and remember who God is. When we recognize His power, His compassion, and His unfailing love, our hearts can’t help but respond with praise. Because when we truly see God’s faithfulness, the only fitting response is to raise a hallelujah.

This command is given twice
St. Francis of Assisi that first wrote the poem that become the hymn, “All Creatures of our God and King) in the 1200's.
Assisi was known as a lover of nature. In Francis’ last days, he became virtually blind and unable to endure daylight.
One of the sisters at his home built him a hut in the garden of her convent where he could live out the rest of his days.
It is said that Francis could be heard preaching to the birds, urging them to praise God in accordance with the message of Psalm 148.
Here are the words he wrote:
All creatures of our God and king
Lift up your voice and with us sing
O Praise Him! O Praise Him!
Thou burning sun with golden beam
Thou silver moon with softer gleam
O Praise Him! O Praise Him!
Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sail in heaven along
O Praise Him! O Praise Him!
Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice
Ye light of evening, find a voice
O Praise Him! O Praise Him!
Thou flowing water, pure and clear
Make music for thy lord to hear
O Praise Him! O Praise Him!
Thou fire so masterful and bright
That givest man both warmth and light

And all ye men of tender heart
Forgiving others take your part
