Real Life Church

Hope of the World
Everybody is looking for a place to belong. A place where they can be known, loved, and discover that their life matters. Over the next four weeks, we're pulling back the curtain on the story of Real Life Church—not because our story is special, but because it points to the God who writes incredible stories through ordinary people. Whether you've been here for years or you're walking through our doors for the very first time, this series is an invitation. An invitation to see where we've come from, what God has done, and how He might be weaving your story into something bigger than you ever imagined. Because this isn't just our story. It's not just your story. It's God's story.

NEW TO REAL LIFE?
This weekend, we celebrate 250 years of freedom as a nation. We honor those who stood their ground, stormed beaches, defended liberty, and gave everything so others could live free.
But freedom always raises a bigger question: What are we free for?
This Sunday, we'll discover how the early church used seasons of peace to grow stronger, why millions of Christians throughout history lived boldly without the freedoms we enjoy today, and how God may be inviting us to leverage our liberty to make disciples, serve our neighbors, strengthen families, plant churches, and bring hope to the world.
Freedom isn't just something to celebrate. It's something to invest.
Key words: Church, Unity, Community, Mission, Together
YOU CAN HAVE CHRIST WITHOUT THE CHURCH BODY!
1. More Than an Event
Read: Matthew 16:18
Sean said, "Church is not an event. Church is a people."
- Growing up, what picture of church did you have?
- When have you experienced the Church functioning as a family rather than simply attending a gathering?
- What would change in your life if you truly believed, "I don't go to church—I belong to the Church"?
2. Finding My Place in the Body
Read: 1 Corinthians 12:12-20
Paul teaches that every believer is a unique and necessary part of Christ's body.
- What gifts, passions, experiences, or burdens has God uniquely given you?
- If you knew you couldn't fail, where would you most enjoy serving others?
3. The Lies We Believe
Read: 1 Corinthians 12:21-26
Two lies often keep people from stepping into their calling:
"I don't belong."
"I don't need anyone else."
- Which lie do you tend to believe more often?
- What experiences have shaped that belief?
- How has God used other believers to strengthen, encourage, or carry you through difficult seasons?
4. Church Hurt and Church Hope
Church hurt is real, but God still calls the Church His Bride and His Body.
- Have you ever been disappointed, wounded, or discouraged by another Christian?
- What helped—or would help—you move toward healing instead of isolation?
5. Jesus Still Works Through Us
Sean shared:
Jesus still feeds people through us.
Jesus still comforts people through us.
Jesus still reaches nations through us.
- Where do you see God already using ordinary people to bring hope to others?
- What burden or need in our community consistently captures your attention?
6. Partnership Over Performance
Christianity has always been collaborative.
Paul had Barnabas.
Timothy had Paul.
Peter had John.
Even Jesus sent people out two by two.
- Who are some people that have helped you grow spiritually?
- Who could you intentionally lock arms with to pursue ministry, disciple-making, or serving together?
7. Invading Hell Together
Jesus said the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church.
- What area of darkness do you feel burdened to bring light into?
Examples:
- Addiction recovery
- Single parents
- Foster care
- Students
- Neighbors
- Missions
- Disciple-making
- Serving the poor
- What small step could you take in the next month toward that burden?
8. Will You Join Us?
Take a moment to quietly reflect.
Complete this sentence:
"If I truly believed my gifts mattered and my church family was made for me, I would…"
Closing Prayer
Jesus, thank You for making us part of Your Body. Show us where we belong, reveal the gifts You've placed within us, and give us courage to use them alongside others for Your glory. Help us become the hands, feet, and heart of Christ to our city and to the nations. Amen.
