Sermon Title: Submission Is Not a Loss
Sermon Text: Romans 13:1-7
Preparation Question: Do you view submission to human authorities as throwing in the towel, or do you recognize it as the strategic posture of a faithful heavyweight?

Three strategic postures of "Over-Conquerors" under authority:
1. Respect the Ring and Referees: God Has Appointed All Earthly Authorities. (v. 1-4)

2. Trust that the Ultimate Champion Reigns Over the Whole Arena: Christ Rules Over All Earthly Authorities. (v. 1 & 5)

3. Submission to the Victor’s Word is Victory’s Way: Submitting to God and All He Says Is the Path to Abundant Life. (v. 5-7)

Response Questions
1. Why does God call us to respect earthly leaders even when those leaders are flawed or ungodly?
2. In what specific areas of your life is it hardest to trust that Christ is reigning over everything?
3. How does knowing that God holds the ultimate scorecard keep us from taking our own vengeance or retaliating against authority?
4. What is the difference between biblical submission to human authorities and sinful compromise with the world? Where do we draw the line?
5. What is one practical civic or spiritual obligation you have been resisting, and how will you actively step into the posture of an "Over-Conqueror" by submitting to it this week?
