Letters to the Church | The Gospel — God’s Invitation to Share in His Purpose
This week, Pastor Nathan Wakefield resumes our Letters to the Church series. In Romans 15:14-33, we learn that, in the church, we often talk about “calling,” but Scripture shows that every believer is already called — to a life of humble service, gospel purpose, and shared mission. Video of the worship service is available beginning Sunday at 9:30 AM at https://southviewbaptist.org/live.

1. Equipped — Each of us has been equipped for the work of God (14–16).
• God has equipped His people for goodness, knowledge, and the ability to build up one another (14).
• But we sometimes need reminders (15a).
• And the call to preach the Gospel is a high call indeed (15b–16).
Action Step: Ask yourself, “Am I actively using what God has already given me to build others up?”

2. Mission — Meaning in life comes from intentionally making service to the Savior your priority (17–22).
• Real satisfaction comes from serving as God made you to serve (17–18).
• But why wouldn’t it, since serving is empowered by the Holy Spirit (19)?
• Paul is an example of what it looks like to make God’s mission your mission (20–22).
Action Step: Take a pulse check. Is service to Christ the driving rhythm of my life — or an occasional add-on?

3. Partners — In Christ we are called to partner together (23–33).
• Paul had a deep desire to minister to and be ministered by the Christians in Rome (23–24).
• Unity in Christ brings blessing and responsibility that crosses boundaries (25–29).
• In Christ we partner with those who serve in ways we may not have opportunity to (30–33).
Action Step: Pick someone this week and partner with them in ministry.
