THE REGRESSION OF MARRIAGE
We are facing the lowest marriage rates in U.S. history. There is a regression of marriages, but also a delay for those who do marry.
This brings a number of problems, but also the realization that God may be using this time to protect us, prepare us, or send us into a greater purpose.
REASONS FOR SINGLENESS
“Eunuch” is not meant to be a derogatory term.

1/ Singleness can be a calling.
I wish everyone were single, just as I am. But each has his own gift from God… 1 Corinthians 7:6-7
2/ Singleness can be a ____________________________.

This is not always negative, but sometimes it’s the nature of life.
If single, whichever category you’re in, Jesus says, “God helps!”
IDEAL OR IDOL
The whole of Scripture encourages marriage for most people. It’s for partnership, protection, procreation, pleasure, pruning, & projecting Christ.
If not careful, we will take marriage from an ideal to an idol.
Marriage is not the ultimate aim!
I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:11-13
PRACTICAL PREPARATIONS
Don’t let waiting be wasted! Become the right person while waiting on the right person!
Spirit
Seek the Lord with all of your heart.
Settle your ________________________.
Do you really believe Jesus is God? What do you believe about serving the poor?
What will your relationship with alcohol be like? Do you believe God heals today?
What is your view of speaking in tongues? What is your stance on tithing?
Do you believe the Bible is truly God’s Word? What are your spiritual gifts?
Find a place to serve in the local church.
Pray a spouse into your life.
Soul (mind, will, emotions)
Pursue life experiences & goals.
Live in such a way that you are fulfilled, even if you never marry!
Develop life ____________________.
Seek mental & emotional wholeness.
If you’re dysfunctional as a single person, you’ll be dysfunctional as a married person.
Nurture good & godly friendships.
Find “marriage mentors”.
Work towards ____________________ stability & independence.
Body
Take care of yourself physically.
Fight for sexual purity.
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Put yourself in good ____________________.
The quality of the pond determines the quality of the fish.
