STORY #2 - Telling the Story

STORY #2 - Telling the Story

Altogether, the Old Testament and New Testament are in total agreement on one main theme woven throughout its pages, and that is the STORY. The STORY deals with God's love, man's sin, the need for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, and the hope of new life now and eternal life when this life ends.

Our June series is simply entitled, STORY.
The Bible has some incredible stories! Adventure, romance, documenteries, war, supernatural, crime, law and order, poetry, and so much more.
There are some fantastic characters too! Heroes and zeroes, kings and clods, artists and writers, married couples and singles, villians and victors, simple folks and stupid fools, and many others.
The Bible is comprised of 66 different volumes (approx. 727,969 words), written by about 40 different authors.
They wrote in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek.
God perfectly guided the human authors of the Bible so that, while using their own writing styles and personalities, they still recorded exactly what God intended.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Hebrews 4:12
There are about 800 distinct stories and approximately 3,237 specifically named individuals in the Bible, along with countless other unnamed figures.
What is one of your favorite Bible stories and a couple of characters you have enjoyed learning about?
This morning we are looking at The Story, known as the Gospel - a word that carries the meaning of "Good News."
We're going to pick up where we left off last week.
1 Corinthians 15:3-5
The Apostle Paul wrote this passage to refute some false teaching in the early church regarding the resurrection.
This morning we'll walk through a basic outline of the Gospel message. It's God's Story of Jesus. Then we will look at our story with Jesus.
The chart provided in the printed notes and on the screen will help us to understand God's Story of Jesus. It will help us to tell others, simply and concisely, what the Gospel means for their life.
First: God made mankind for RELATIONSHIPS.
Genesis 1:1, 26-28; Psalm 19:1
Second: Man rebelled against God and RUINED his relationships.
Romans 1:18-32; 5:12; Matthew 25:41
Third: God's love provided a way to RESCUE mankind.
Romans 5:8; 6:23; John 3:16-17; Acts 4:12; Ephesians 2:8-10
Fourth: God's Story of Jesus demands a RESPONSE.
Mark 1:15; Acts 16:30-31; Romans 10:13
This is God's Story of Jesus. As a follower of the Lord, we should embrace our responsibility to tell others the truths of the Gospel. To be most effective, we should get equipped to tell our story with Jesus...our testimony of how God saved us and the difference He has made in our life.
Three times the Apostle Paul presented his testimony (his story with Jesus). Acts 9, 22, 26
Paul laid out his testimony using a simple format: The kind of person he was before meeting Jesus, the details of how the Lord saved him, and the changes that took place afterward.
Grace Church has multiple equipping classes that give you the knowledge, skills, and motivation to be obedient to God's command to make disciples.
