Humility makes teachability possible. Maturity is the result of teachability. Lack of humility is the lid on maturity.
Foundational truths:
- Wisdom is seeing life from God’s perspective.
- Wisdom assumes the existence of good and evil.
- Wisdom is rooted in the fear of God
- There is a Creator, and I’m not Him.
- I am contingent; He is eternal.
- I am not the center of the Universe.
- I am created by God with dignity and worth.
- I am fallen and in need of a Savior.
*For genuine Christians* I am redeemed and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Because of this, I desire teachability to grow in Christ-like maturity.
Teachability enables us to receive what God wants us to experience.

Teachability denies ammunition to our enemies.

Arrogant obstinacy supplies your enemies with the means to assassinate your character.

Teachability is an important part of blameless character:
Teachability enables us to learn to discern.
Everyone has an opinion…but not all opinions are helpful.
- We can’t learn what we need to learn.
- We’ll lose sight of our purpose and the mission.

King Saul was threatened by David’s success
- Learn to listen and the art of asking questions.
If you learn to listen, people will learn to love you.

- Curate curiosity. God’s Word and world are mesmerizing. Become a truth-seeking learner.
Find wise people.
Join a Group or a Serve Team.
Become a brain-picker. Take a biblically wise person out to lunch or coffee.

Live It Out:

Humility makes teachability possible. Maturity is the result of teachability. Lack of humility is the lid on maturity.

In the days and months ahead, grow in teachability by:

Listening to others before being the one to talk and ask engaging questions.

Curating curiosity and becoming a truth-seeking learner through both God’s Word and the world He created for us.

Observe where and how you are seeking knowledge and be discerning is doing so.
