Every prophetic word is the announcement of God's will
A Prophetic Word is conceived by God, carried through intercession, and birthed through prayer
I. The Pattern of Travail
1. The Father establishes His purpose.
2. Jesus intercedes at the Father's right hand.
3. The Holy Spirit intercedes within us.
4. The believer becomes a participant in the prayers of the Trinity
The Father wills.
The Son intercedes.
The Spirit groans.
The believer cooperates.
Groanings:
Stenagmos = sighs, groanings, deep emotional expressions.
Alaletos = beyond speech, incapable of being articulated with words.
Travail begins when God's burden becomes our burden.
II. The Path of Travail
1. Brokenness
Afflict:
Hebrew: 'anah' = To humble oneself. To bow low. To submit. To become yielded.
Rees Howells said: "The Holy Spirit was to pray through me, but first He had to gain possession of me."
1. Brokenness
2. Burden
Preference = Taking something we care about to God
Burden = God giving something He cares about to us
1. Brokenness
2. Burden
3. Expressing
Scripture repeatedly shows groaning, weeping, and spiritual expressions accompanying intercession.
1. Brokenness
2. Burden
3. Expressing
4. Refuse to Quit
Persistence is the substance of travail.
PRAY - HOLY SPIRIT, GIVE ME THE FATHER'S BURDEN!
