What do these stories teach us about the kingdom of heaven?
1. The Kingdom Is Waiting To Be Found
- “To find” - from the Greek word eurisko >> Eureka!
- God wants to be found by us (Jeremiah 29, Acts 17)
- Sometimes the kingdom shows up where we least expect it (stumblers)
- Sometimes the kingdom is revealed to those deliberately searching (seekers)

- Priorities - rearrangement of what matters most (Philippians 3:8)
*Similar to a husband and wife joining together in the covenant of marriage

- This is not a sacrifice in either story, it’s a deal!

- Objective worth, not just subjective value
- Eternal investment (Matthew 6:19-21, 19:27-30; Romans 8:18)

Christ is the “man” who put everything on the line to buy the whole world to obtain the treasure – his church, you and me.
Christ is the “merchant” who gave all he had to purchase the pearl of great price – our salvation.
