Communion
Chapel Rock practices an 'open communion' meaning that if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you are welcome to participate in the communion service. The elder/staff member giving the devotion will provide instructions.
God is good at worldbuilding, so our world is good!
Day 1 – Time Created
Day 2 – Space Created
Day 3 – Life Created (plants)
Day 4 – Time Ordered / Governed
Day 5 – Space Filled with Life (birds/fish)
Day 6 – Life Blessed / Governed
Day 7 – Creation Completed / Creatures Rest with God
God is good at worldbuilding, so our world is good!
IT IS ORDERED
A good world needs reliable and ordered rhythms.
The order we see in Creation is the self-expression of a God who Himself is ordered and who makes sense.
IT IS PRO-LIFE
In Exodus 21:22-23, when God is talking about what to do if two people are fighting and they hit a pregnant woman and because of that, the unborn baby is injured, God uses the Hebrew world for CHILD for the unborn there, not fetus. The ones who hurt the baby will be held accountable for murder if the baby dies. In the Law, God considers that unborn baby a PERSON.
God designed this world to promote life! God is in favor of life, and vitality, and thriving!
IT IS BLESSED
Creation is good because it is blessed!
Human life is to be a stewardship. The dominion over Creation we have from God is real authority, but it is delegated authority. The world is not ours to exploit, but to steward as God’s vice-regents. It is God’s good property entrusted to human care.
Church, our Origin Story of creation is good news! Before Genesis tells us what is wrong with the world, it tells us what is right with it.
VISION COMMITMENT
We BRING our brokenness to Jesus because a CHANGE to wholeness is the story we SHARE.
