Matthew 21:9-11
“Hosanna” is an expression of ______________ but it’s also a cry for __________________ —a plea to “save us!
• John 13:3-17

2. We __________________ Jesus by serving ______________.

3. We must seek the ________________ of the Holy Spirit to ____________ who to serve and ___________ to serve.
• John 14:16, 26
Start talking:
• When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
• Who is someone you know that serves others really well? What stands out about them?
• Why do you think our culture often views servanthood as weakness instead of strength?

Start Thinking:
• Why do you think Jesus valued servanthood so highly?
• What stands out to you most about Jesus washing the disciples’ feet?
• Why was Peter so uncomfortable with Jesus serving him?
• What does it mean that the kingdom of God is an “upside-down kingdom”?
• How does the title servant challenge the way we normally think about identity and success?
• Why is discernment important when deciding how and where to serve?
• What does it practically mean to “walk by the Spirit” in serving others?
• Why do you think Jesus calls His followers both servants and friends?

Start Sharing:
• Do you naturally enjoy serving others, or is it difficult for you? Why?
• When have you experienced someone serving you in a way that impacted your life?
• What needs do you currently see around you that God may be calling you to notice?
• Is there an area where pride, busyness, or comfort keeps you from serving?
• How have you experienced the Holy Spirit leading or guiding you?
• What would it look like for you to embrace “servant” as one of your primary identities?

Start Praying:
• Ask God to give you the heart of a servant like Jesus.
• Pray for sensitivity to notice the needs of others.
• Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in who and how to serve.

Start Doing:
• Intentionally serve one person this week without expecting recognition.
• Ask the Holy Spirit daily, “Who can I serve today?”
• Look for one need around you and respond to it with Christlike love.
