A Journey through the Psalms: Psalm 73 - Phil Kendon

The Psalms is a book of praise written over 900 years by more than seven authors. The largest contribution came from King David, who wrote 75 Psalms. We should study the Psalms because: They teach us to meditate on God. They teach us to praise and show us how to praise God. The teach us to have faith in our troubles and to receive comfort from God. They teach us how to have passion for God’s mission. And they teach us to value and practice corporate worship and private devotion. This is a psalm that voices out loud the thoughts that many of us carry in private. They are questions about the fairness of life. About why the wicked prosper while good people often suffer harm. They are questions that can be filled with deep emotion: anger at injustice, feelings of revenge, like we want to take matters into our own hands, feelings of helplessness or despair, or maybe even feelings of giving up, just going with the flow and abandoning our Christian values because that seems to be the way things work. If you can’t beat them. Join them. But they are questions that God is willing to answer as he gives us a more spiritual view on life.
