In the beginning, before there is anything else, there was God the Word
Jesus is the Word and lives in us, full of grace and truth
No one comes to the Father except through Jesus the Word
Jesus, as the Word, separates us by His purity and holiness not our work
Hearing Christ’s Words is the gift of faith, it is not created by human will, intellect, or works
God does not contradict His Word - but He is quite willing to contradict my perceptions concerning His Word!
1 - Now faith is - faith is present tense at every moment.
- assurance - substance credited as truth; that which supports or is the basis of reality.
- hoped for - things anticipated with desire; having trust in someone or something.
- conviction - proof, evidence; acknowledgement of the manifestation of truth.
- not seen - discerning as future reality.
Faith, as a present tense reality, is more real than what you can see.
3 - we understand - comprehend or have confidence in the Truth of the Word.
What is made and available for sight is created by things that cannot be seen.
6 - He is a rewarder - to render as a reward. (If He exists [and He does] then He is a rewarder)
There is something inherently faithless in not hoping for or expecting the rewards of the truth
What Peter and John “possessed” was greater than what they could see!
