Sermon Text: 1 Kings 21
Preparation Question: What is one "want" in your life right now that is currently threatening your "contentment"?
Four critical stages of spiritual downfall into true poverty, and one way back to true prosperity:
1. Royalty possessed blessings and riches from the Lord. (v. 1)
2. Discontentment wanted what should not be had. (v. 2-7)
3. Self-Pity abdicated authority and respect. (v. 8-15)
4. Rebellion was willing to trade riches for rags. (v. 2a, 16-24)

2. Discontentment wanted what should not be had. (v. 2-7)
3. Self-Pity abdicated authority and respect. (v. 8-15)
4. Rebellion was willing to trade riches for rags. (v. 2a, 16-24)
5. Repentance saw God’s grace abound over the abundance of sin. (v. 25-29)
Response Questions:
1. Why does having "almost everything" often make the "one thing" we lack feel so much more desirable?
2. In what ways do we "abdicate our authority" or compromise our character today by letting others (or our own emotions) take the lead when we don’t get our way or feel unfairly treated?
3. Looking at verses 16–24, what were the specific "rags" (consequences) Ahab received in exchange for the vineyard he stole?
4. What did Paul mean when he wrote in Romans 5:20, “Where sin abounded, grace abounded all the more”-- does this give us a license to sin?
5. Identify a "Naboth’s Vineyard" in your life right now—something you are tempted to pursue at the expense of your peace, your integrity, or your relationship with God. What is one practical step you can take this week to "repent" (change your mind and direction) and start valuing the "riches" God has already given you instead?
