Light in the scriptures represents God, Jesus, the Word of God.
So then we come to Mark 4:22...
Jared’s initial interpretation: Let the light of God shine into our lives and everything that you’re hiding will be brought into the open and every secret you’re keeping will be brought to light.
Do people want that?

Why does Jesus say this?

Does he want to shame us? Does he want to embarrass us?
I don't think so, but we have to figure this out.
Keys to understanding scripture.

1. When we don't understand, ask.
2. CONTEXT is king.
CONTEXT: Throughout Mark chapters 1, 2, and 3, Jesus is consistently healing people, casting demons out of people, freeing them from suffering.

We see Jesus consistently going to the outcasts, the unseen, and unloved and as he did, he brought redemption, freedom, healing, and love.
Jesus was talking about the secrets of the Kingdom of God in Mark 4:1-20 and He is still talking about the secrets of the Kingdom of God in Mark 4:21-23.
Coming back to the questions:

Does he want to shame us? Does he want to embarrass us?

We can confidently answer: NO.
Hidden things are not always shameful things.

Hidden things are sometimes…
precious things.
valuable things.
treasured things.

But we need to allow the Light of God's Word to illuminate our life in order to find these secret hidden things.
Jared without Jesus vs Jared with Jesus
“God made me fast…and when I run I feel His pleasure.”
- Eric Liddell
In my doubts and fears, the word of God is my strength to keep going.
With God, everything is possible.
Let the light of God’s word illuminate our lives to reveal the secret hidden things He has placed there.
It all comes down to loving God.

If you love someone you will listen when they speak.
Secrets to the Kingdom of God

1. Allow the Light of God’s Word to illuminate our whole life…uncovering secret hidden things.

2. Pay close attention to the voice of God and to the Word of God.
