Dead to the Law

“The law” references the whole Law of Moses

Both the Jews and Gentile believers would have knowledge of the law

In Iconium they entered the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke in such a manner that a large number of people believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.
Acts 14:1

So he was reasoning in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Gentiles, and in the market place every day with those who happened to be present.
Acts 17:17

And he was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.

We died to the law in Jesus

Married to Jesus

The same salvation that caused us to die to sin and to the law, brought us into union with Jesus

We have a new union with Jesus – married to Him

This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
John 17:3

Bearing Fruit from Our Union with Jesus

We are married to Jesus so that we would bear fruit

When we were alive to sin and the law, our flesh produced disobedience and rebellion

Our union with Christ should give birth to holiness and righteousness in our life

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10
