We are currently studying the book of James. The theme for the sermon series is, “Faith in Action – The Decisions that Determine Maturity.“

Today's Sermon

The mature Christian is prayerful during the difficult times of life.
James 5:13-20

1. Prayer for those who are suffering.

A. The struggles of the early church. Acts 8:1-3

B. To be treated unfairly. 2 Timothy 2:9

C. To find God‘s grace during our afflictions. Hebrews 4:14-16

2. Praying for the sick.

A. The person is sick because of sin. 2 Corinthians 11:28-30

B. The person is healed because of confessed sin.

C. The elders, finding wisdom to do God‘s will – the prayer of faith. 1 John 5:14-15

3. Prayer for the nation.

A. A nature much like ours.

B. A promise given to Elijah that he believed. 1 Kings 18:1

C. His prayers impacted a nation. 1 Kings 18:36-39

4. Praying for those believers who are straying from the faith. Hebrews 10:23-25

A. Going to a person privately, who is sinning against you. Matthew 18:15

B. Sins that are covered by an attitude of love. 1 Peter 4:8

Application Thoughts:

1. Persevere in your prayers.

2. Encourage those struggling to take advantage of our Stephen Ministry.

3. If you are sick or your children are sick ask for prayer from the Elders.

4. If you have sin in your life, confess it to others so that you might be forgiven and healed.

5. Pray for our nation: for our president and leaders to do God‘s will on earth.

Kids Camp VOLUNTEER Registration

Kids Camp volunteers are needed leading up to and during the week. Dates for camp are Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16, 8:45am–12:00pm (Note the days and time change in our schedule!). We could use more help this year than we have in years past. We'd love to have your help for an hour, a few hours, or all week if you're available. MINISTRY CONNECTION POINTS

Women's Ministry
Women's Ministry is encouraging the women of the church to read the Bible, just a chapter a day, and join the TableTop gathering for discussion the last Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. The women's Saturday morning Bible study meets every other week at 9:00am at the church.

Men's Ministry
There is a men’s gathering on the third Thursday of every month. These gatherings provide great opportunities for ment to grow in their relationships with one another and with the Lord. There is also a men's prayer time at 6:00am on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Young Adults
The Young Adults group serves college students and young professionals. There are several gatherings throughout the month.

Youth Group
Youth Group includes both middle-schoolers and high-schoolers. The group meets on Sunday mornings during the service on all but the first Sunday of the month. The group also meets Sunday afternoons at 4:00pm.

Children's Ministry
Our Children's Ministry serves the kids of Hillside from nursery through fifth grade. We are always on the lookout for servant-hearted people who love kids to help with our Children's Ministry.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers offer one-to-one, Christ-centered, emotional and spiritual care for people in the congregation going through difficult times such as job loss, financial struggles, medical issues, or death of a loved one.

Care Team Ministry
The Care Team Ministry provides transportation for those in need in our Hillside Family.

Prayer Ministry
The Prayer Team hosts a monthly prayer night on the third Monday of the month at 7:00pm, and everyone is welcome! You can also receive prayer in person from 9:30-10:00am Sunday mornings in the cry room adjacent to the church lobby.

Meals Ministry
The Meals Ministry is a practical way to meet the needs of others in the congregation who are welcoming a new baby or experiencing challenging circumstances.
