He is Here: The Spirit Within Us

He is Here: The Spirit Within Us

What if the power you’ve been searching for isn’t out there somewhere—but already within you? In John 17, Jesus reveals a staggering reality: the same unity He shares with the Father is now alive in us through the Spirit. This message will shift everything—you’ll see that the Holy Spirit isn’t just a concept to understand, but a presence that pursues you in your brokenness, breathes life into what feels dead, and unites you to God in a way that changes you from the inside out. He doesn’t just dwell near you—He dwells in you, forming you into God’s temple, grounding you in Scripture, and meeting you through sacred moments that make your faith real. And it doesn’t stop there—He empowers you with assurance when you doubt, authority when you feel weak, and an anointing that calls you into something far greater than yourself. If you’ve been living like you’re on your own, this is your wake-up call—the life, power, and presence of God are already closer than you think.

John 17:22-23 (CSB) 22 I have given them the glory you have given me, so that they may be one as we are one. 23 I am in them and you are in me, so that they may be made completely one, that the world may know you have sent me and have loved them as you have loved me.

I Animates

A. PURSUES
Romans 5:8 (CSB) But God proves his own love for us(m) in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

B. BREATHS LIFE
Ephesians 2:1–5 “You were dead… but God… made us alive together with Christ…”

John 20:22 (CSB) After saying this, he breathed on them(g) and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit gives resurrection life

Romans 8:10–11 “The Spirit is life… He who raised Christ… will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit…”

2 Corinthians 3:14 (CSB) but their minds were hardened. For to this day, at the reading of the old covenant, the same veil remains; it is not lifted, because it is set aside only in Christ.

C. BRINGS RECONCILIATION
Ephesians 2:18 “For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.”

1 Corinthians 12:13 “For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body…” Reconciliation isn’t just a legal idea—it’s union with Christ, and the Spirit is the one who creates that union.

2 Corinthians 3:18 “…being transformed into the same image… from the Lord who is the Spirit.”

Ephesians 4:3 “Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

II Indwells

A. CHURCH

You (individually) are God’s temple

1 Corinthians 6:19 (CSB) 19 Don’t you know that your body is a temple(f) of the Holy Spirit(g) who is in you,(h) whom you have from God? You are not your own,

The church (collectively) is God’s temple

1 Corinthians 3:16 (CSB) 16 Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s temple(n) and that the Spirit of God lives in you?

Built together as a dwelling place for God

Ephesians 2:19-22 (CSB) So then you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. In him the whole building, being put together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you are also being built together for God’s dwelling in the Spirit.

The entire Work of the Holy Spirit is aimed at this singular design: uniting the believer to God and with one another.

B. SCRIPTURE

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (CSB)16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

C. SACREMENTS

1 Corinthians 12:13 (CSB) 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body — whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free — and we were all given one Spirit to drink.

John 6:56 (CSB) 56 The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.

1 Corinthians 10:16 (CSB) 16 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ?

III Empowers

A. ASSURANCE

Romans 8:15–16 “…by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’ The Spirit himself bears witness… that we are children of God.”

B. AUTHORITY

Spiritual Responsibility = Spiritual Authority

Matthew 28:19 (CSB) Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

C. ANOINTING

What area of your life is quenching the Spirit? What would happen if you fully surrendered to Him...
