We are currently studying the book of James. The theme for the sermon series is, “Faith in Action – The Decisions that Determine Maturity.“

We are commanded to be true with our words to people and sincere with our words to God.
James 5:12-13

1. Be true with your words to people.

A. Jesus wanted all our words to be as it were an oath to God. Matthew 5:33-37

2. Seeking God’s comfort through prayer.

A. Psalm 27:13-14—Be of good courage.

B. Psalm 55:22—Cast your burden.

C. Philippians 4:6-7—God’s peace through prayer. To relieve anxiety.

D. 1 Peter 5:6-7—To humble yourself and to know that God cares.

3. The results of seeking God through prayer.

A. Patience.

B. Endurance. Hebrews 12:1-3

C. Maturity.

4. Seeking God’s purposes through praise.

A. To consider it all joy.

B. Knowing God will work it out for good. Romans 8:28

C. Praising God no matter what the circumstances. Ephesians 5:17-20

5. The results of seeking God‘s purposes through praise.

A. Developing an eternal perspective. 1 Peter 1:3-9

B. Fulfilling God’s eternal purposes in your life while suffering. Acts 16:22-34

Application thoughts:

1. Be people of your word.

2. Be sincere and real with your prayers to God, especially during difficult times.

3. Prepare your hearts for worship, especially on Sundays.

Men's Gathering - April 16

Men, join us for an evening of fellowship at Barrels and Bottles at Camp George West on Thursday, April 16 at 6:00pm. These gatherings provide a great opportunity for guys to connect, grow in friendship, and encourage one another in our walks with the Lord. Looking forward to catching up!

Prayer Night - April 20

Join us Monday, April 20 from 7:00-8:00pm in the coffee shop as we come together to pray for our church, our community, our nation, and our world. Please email the prayer team to submit prayer requests.

Missional Morning - April 26

Join us for our next Missional Morning at 8:15 on April 26th. We will hear from Anisa Stumbo, who works with International Students at the school of Mines. Come and learn more about the International Students ministry at Mines!

Kids Camp Early Registration

Kids Camp early registration for summer 2026 was sent to your inbox last Tuesday, so be on the lookout for the early registration link! Dates for camp are Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16, 8:45am–12:00pm (Note the days and time change in our schedule!). If you did not receive the link, please contact Angela Wheaton.

Women's Ministry
Women's Ministry is encouraging the women of the church to read the Bible, just a chapter a day, and join the TableTop gathering for discussion the last Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. The women's Saturday morning Bible study meets every other week at 9:00am at the church.

Men's Ministry
There is a men’s gathering on the third Thursday of every month. These gatherings provide great opportunities for ment to grow in their relationships with one another and with the Lord. There is also a men's prayer time at 6:00am on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Young Adults
The Young Adults group serves college students and young professionals. There are several gatherings throughout the month.

Youth Group
Youth Group includes both middle-schoolers and high-schoolers. The group meets on Sunday mornings during the service on all but the first Sunday of the month. The group also meets Sunday afternoons at 4:00pm.

Children's Ministry
Our Children's Ministry serves the kids of Hillside from nursery through fifth grade. We are always on the lookout for servant-hearted people who love kids to help with our Children's Ministry.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers offer one-to-one, Christ-centered, emotional and spiritual care for people in the congregation going through difficult times such as job loss, financial struggles, medical issues, or death of a loved one.

Care Team Ministry
The Care Team Ministry provides transportation for those in need in our Hillside Family.

Prayer Ministry
The Prayer Team hosts a monthly prayer night on the third Monday of the month at 7:00pm, and everyone is welcome! You can also receive prayer in person from 9:30-10:00am Sunday mornings in the cry room adjacent to the church lobby.

Meals Ministry
The Meals Ministry is a practical way to meet the needs of others in the congregation who are welcoming a new baby or experiencing challenging circumstances.
