Signs of A Savior: A Savior Who Gives Life (Easter '26)
The gospel of John lays out some of the miracles of Jesus as signs pointing toward his identity as Savior and Messiah. As we celebrate Easter, today we encounter another sign of our Savior. We’ve seen Jesus is the Savior who transforms, who initiates, who provides, who illuminates and today we see a Savior who gives life. He has the power to raise the dead - He can resurrect hope and reignite purpose. Easter declares we have a Savior Who Gives Life to all who trust in Him.

https://elementscitychurch.snappages.site/prayer-requestThe Apostle John ends his gospel account of Jesus with these words…
“The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.”
-John 20:30-31

The miracles (signs) the Apostle John includes in his gospel account we're to 'look through' in order to see the SAVIOR behind them and all what He brings and is.
In John 11 and John 20 we see a Savior Who Gives Life (literally) -- resurrection happens and it reminds us that Jesus can give life to all who look to Him!

The resurrection means Jesus is who he claimed to be.
The resurrection means Jesus has the power he claimed to have.
The resurrection means Jesus has the power he claimed to have.
The resurrection means Jesus is the Savior Who Gives Life.
In Mark 10:34 Jesus says: “They will mock and flog and kill me, but after three days I will come back to life.”
The cross was no surprise to Jesus.
It was all part of God’s plan.
To a Savior Who Gives Life - endings are never endings.

A dead guy got back up…sound familiar?
Foreshadowing what was to come for Jesus himself… A Savior who gives life - gives life whenever he wants to whomever he wants.
Every story that seems like it’s ended — in the hands of a Savior who gives life — always has new beginnings.
Resurrection stories (new life stories) are what God writes.
It’s what He does.

If the tomb is empty, anything is possible.
That is the miracle of Easter.
Jesus walked into Jerusalem knowing exactly what was ahead—the cross, the grave, AND the empty tomb.
THE RESURRECTION CHANGES EVERYTHING…
Yale historian: Dr. Jaroslav Pelikan wrote:
“Regardless of what anyone may personally think or believe about him, Jesus of Nazareth has been the dominant figure in the history of Western Culture for almost 20 centuries. If it were possible, with some sort of super magnet, to pull up out of the history every scrap of metal bearing at least a trace of his name, how much would be left?”
We celebrate Easter because we serve a RISEN SAVIOR who has made God knowable, has risen so that we may live with an eternal HOPE in this life, and the life to come. Our Savior STILL gives life to all who look to Him.

Gerald O’Collins said,
“In a profound sense, Christianity without the resurrection is not simply Christianity without its final chapter. It is not Christianity at all.”
Quote:
"God has made us for Himself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in Him."
The quote opens Augustine’s Confessions (Book 1, Chapter 1), written around 397 AD.
There are 4 biographies of Jesus In the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
In all four — the last week in Jesus' life is given the most attention. Why?
That is unprecedented in any biography. Why would they be written like that? It's because these early followers insisted -with remarkable unity- that the one event that created the movement that is the Church was the fact that Jesus was resurrected from the dead.

“The evidence for Jesus' resurrection is so strong that nobody would question it except for two things:
First, it is a very unusual event.
And second, if you believe it happened, you have to change the way you live.”
—Wolfhart Pannenberg, German theologian (1928—2014)
