Reflection Questions:
1. Do you know what your first words were, or do you remember the first words of a family member?
2. Read Luke 24:37-48. What were the three themes from Jesus’ First words?
3. What proofs did Jesus offer for being bodily resurrected?
4. Read Philippians 3:20-21 and 1 Corinthians 15:53-55. What do these passages teach us about the nature of our resurrected bodies? What hope does the concept that we will have a resurrected body like Jesus’ offer us? How little or much does that matter to you?
5. Read Luke 24:44-46, Matthew 21:16, Mark 9:9, 9:31, Luke 17:24, 18:31, John 10:11-18. Have you ever had someone try and tell you that the crucifixion was random or the act of an out-of-control mob? If so, how do you reconcile that with these passages?
6. What are the odds of the Old Testament being able to correctly predict Jesus’ death and resurrection? What are the odds of Jesus being able to correctly predict his own death and resurrection?
7. If the bible and Jesus were right on Jesus’ death and resurrection, what does that say about their reliability on other topics?
8. Read Matthew 28:18-20. Is it possible for Jesus to just be a good teacher or another prophet and make a claim like this?
9. What is Jesus’ purpose for his church, and how is the church to accomplish it?
10. How do you think Faith is doing at letting its purpose as a church be defined by what Jesus said the church’s purpose is?
11. What are some of the topics that might seek to define our purpose as a church today?
12. How does a church best address the issues of its age in teaching and going but not let those issues define it?
