Biblical authors use the word, BEHOLD to get your attention.
The word BEHOLD is a divine exclamation mark.
To BEHOLD is to look closely with unceasing interest.

Have you taken your eyes off Jesus?
Do you still look at him with unceasing interest?
Does someone or something else have your utmost attention?

It’s been said, "We become what we behold"
What is shaping you? What is forming you? What are your really paying attention to, fixated on and how is that changing you?

Today let us BEHOLD Jesus - to refocus on Him, to put our undivided attention on Him, to remember who he is and hopefully become more like him.
1) BEHOLD His Presence:
------------
- Matthew 1:21-23
- Matthew 28:16-20
Matthew begins and ends with presence!

In what sense then, is God with us? God with us in his incarnation; God with us by the presence of his Holy Spirit, God with us in the taking of communion, God with us in the preaching of his word, God with us in private prayer. God with us in every action of our life. He is God with us - to comfort, to enlighten, to protect and to defend. He is with us in every temptation and in every trial, even in the hour of death and in the day of judgment - God is with us and in us, and we are with and in him for all eternity.

- Have you lost sight of the presence of God in your life?
- Have you lost trust in the care of the Lord for you, his awareness of your, his sovereignty over you?

Behold He is Immanuel - God with you!
2) BEHOLD His Purpose:
------------
- John 1:22-29
- Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of the Passover Lamb
1 Corinthains 5:7 …Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.

- Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of the Suffering Servant
Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.

3. Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of the daily Temple Sacrifices
1 Peter 1:18-19 you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

4. Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of the ram God provided
Genesis 22:7-8 And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” 8 Abraham said, “God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.”...

What does Jesus (the lamb) do with sin? Takes it away!
Where did he take our sin? I will tell you: as far as the east is from the west so far does he remove our transgressions from us. Jesus took the sin sank into the bottom of the sea. God has cast it behind his back, and it will not be mentioned against us anymore forever. There is no such thing now as the sin of the Saints – Christ has utterly annihilated it. He came to finish transgression and to make an end of sins and if he made an end of them, they are gone forever.

Of The World –The sacrifice of this Lamb of God has all the capacity to forgive every sin and cleanse every sinner. It is big enough for the whole world.

- Have you lost sight of Jesus’ love and willingness to sacrifice and suffer for you?
- Have you lost sight of Jesus' desire to take sin away your sin?

BEHOLD…The Lamb of God who takes away sin of the world.
3) BEHOLD His Pursuit
------------
- Matthew 21:1-11
What kind of King is he?
Pursuing. A King that is coming to you - He initiates, He chases you down, He leaves the 99 to come find you.

How does this King come to you?
Humble.

Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem has been termed the triumph of Christ. It was indeed the triumph of humility over pride. Christ is approachable. He is not divided from us. No trumpet sounds – he is content with the voice of men. No pump, but the pomp which loving hearts willingly yield to him. He rides toward the arrest, toward the trial, toward the nails, toward the cross, toward the mockery and toward the horror…all for you!

- Have you taken your eyes off your King?
- Have you lost sight of his pursuit of you?

BEHOLD - Your king is coming to you...
O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.
