"Comfortable or conformable: that is the question. If we are looking for comfortable lives, then we will protect our plans and desires, save our lives, and never be planted. But if we yield our lives and let God plant us, we will never be alone but will have the joy of being fruitful to the glory of God."

3. Death is glorious
Key Theme:
True life and glory come only through death, specifically death to self through faith in Jesus, following His pattern of surrender.
Key Application:
Seek to daily conform to Jesus’ pattern of life surrendering your life, desires, and way to His.
Key Verses:
John 12:23-25 “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”
Key Questions:
1. How did the crowd’s expectations of the Messiah differ from what Jesus actually came to do? How does that relate to some of the expectations we have of Jesus?
2. When you think about Jesus’ call to “lose your life,” what emotions rise up in you (fear, justification, resistance, trust, confusion)?
3. If the only glory that ultimately matters is the Father’s, how should that reshape your priorities, and what does that look like in the real world?

Church family, we praise God for how faithfully in so many respects you give. Our church family is undeniably generous, but we still have great needs for supplication. We ask that you give joyfully, faithfully and sacrificially in response to how our great God and Savior has given to us.
