Echoes from the Cross | "Into Your Hands I Commit My Spirit" 3/29 Palm Sunday
Jesus’ final word is a prayer of trust. He entrusts His life fully into the Father’s hands. As Holy Week begins, this sermon speaks to our fear of letting go and our anxiety about the future. We are invited to place our lives, our losses, and our hope into the same faithful hands.

Jesus weeping
Ἔκλαυσεν" – to weep, sob, wail aloud.
They missed the point, and we sometimes miss the point.
A God who meets our expectations (a coronation)
Versus a Jesus willingly going to His death
A King we still don’t fully understand
It’s not a coronation; it’s a funeral procession

“Father, I trust you.”
Jesus surrenders control and lays down His life because He knows who is waiting to catch Him

Making this our prayer and posture:
A simple prayer of trust
Not perfect understanding, not total comprehension or control
A willingness to surrender our fears, our doubts, our very lives to a Father who loves us
Who this prayer makes me think of:
A couple that’s homebound: “I’m ready for Jesus to take me home.”
A couple whose daughter is waiting for a medical diagnosis (fear, uncertainty, and waiting)
Family in my neighborhood – mom of three whose husband is being deployed to the Middle East
Learning to let go of control and expectations

Why pray this prayer?
Because, like Jesus, we know who is waiting to catch us: A Father who won’t let us go.
