Weekly Sermon Overview:
This Sunday for the fifth week of Lent, we will return to an atonement theory we began this past Sunday, Moral Influence and expand our understanding of it a bit deeper. The basic understanding of Moral Influence is that humans are separated from God because of their sin. This theory suggests that an encounter with divine love can cause people to repent of their sin and live in a loving relation with God. This changes the symbol of the cross from a symbol of shame and punishment to a symbol of transforming love.
