Give Online

At Lakeshore we believe that giving is our privilege. God invites us into partnership with Himself to see the advancement of his ministry. Every week, we are seeing people healed, set free, and delivered, and this is made possible, in part, because of your generosity. If you feel led to give to this ministry, you may do so at the link below.

"Repentance & Authentic Accountability"
Pastor Gil Dirmann
March 15, 2026
Backstory to Psalm 51
-David saw Bathsheba but instead of turning away, inquired about her
-Although she was married, David summoned her, slept with her
-Bathseba became pregnant, David to cover it up by bringing Uriah home.
-When Uriah refused to compromise his integrity, David ordered him to the front lines, and arranged his death.
-David married Bathsheba and attempted to move on as though nothing had happened.
-David demonstrated hypocrisy/hardened heart by condemned the man in the parable
-When Nathan confronted David, he repented.
-Nathan confirms the Lord’s forgiveness, but announces residual consequences
-David experiences immediate grief followed by years of family dysfunction.
Spiritual Truism
“Sin always takes us further than we intended to go, keeps us longer than we intended to stay, and costs more than we intended to pay.”
Repentance
Primary meaning in both Old and New Testament emphasizes the idea of turning around; to change one’s mind and alter one’s behavior
Point 1
Unconfessed Sin Clouds Our Vision

Psalm 51:1-4
Transgressionspesa (hb) = crossing God’s boundaries.
Iniquityaon (hb) = inner corruption that twists the heart
Sin/sinned hatta’at (hb) = falling short of God’s standard
Point 2
Repentance Restores Clarity and Blessings

Psalm 51:5-12
Purge Me - hata (hb) = remove impurities at the soul level
Hyssop - an herb used to symbolize God’s cleansing powerhata = remove impurities at the soul level
Wash me - kabas (hb) = a vigorous scrubbing, not a light rinse
Create - bara (hb) = Genesis word showing only God can create a new heart
Renew - hadas (hb) = to restore to original strength and purpose
Point 3
Accountability Keeps Our Perception Clean

Psalm 51:13
True Accountability:
· Sees what we cannot
· Speaks truth in love
· Protects us from self-deception
· Helps us stay aligned with God’s calling
Proverbs 27:5–6 — Faithful are the wounds of a friend
Proverbs 27:17 — Iron sharpens iron
Galatians 6:1–2 — Restore gently; bear one another’s burdens
James 5:16 — Confess sin to another, and pray for healing
