Title: "TemPEOple" (03-15-26)

The Point: The Church Placed God In His People

Object Lesson: Take Home Containers for Leftovers at Restaurants
Focus Verse. Have someone read 1st Corinthians 6:19. Paul was reprimanding the Corinthians with this statement. Choose two people to read this in their best "dad voice" as if they were reprimanding their teenager.
** Icebreaker - Share your most interesting experience with a take-home or take-out container of food. **
The Jews always associated connection with God with going to the temple. Jesus changed this, and now we can worship God anywhere through the Holy Spirit. Even so, some of us find that we feel closer to God in certain places. Where is that place for you?
Sean taught that if the Holy Spirit is IN you, then you should be doing four things. Let's discuss.
If the Holy Spirit is IN you, care for His property. Have someone read 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.
1. What are you doing to care for your body, His property? This may include physical, intellectual or emotional habits or routines.

2. What do you need to start doing, or stop doing, to better care for your body, His property?
If the Holy Spirit is IN you, support His people. Have someone read 1 Corinthians 3:16.
** 3. What are you doing to care for other believers? **

4. How have you been cared for by other believers?
If the Holy Spirit is IN you, honor His presence. Have someone read 1 Corinthians 6:14-16.
5. God is your "plus one" - He's always with you, no matter where you go or what you do. When no one else is watching, do you treat your parents, spouse, kids, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend, boss, co-workers, etc. in a way that is honorable to God?

6. You would never bring an idol into the temple of God. If we're honest, we all have idols or things that distract us from honoring God's presence. What do you need to get rid of in order to make your temple more welcoming to God's presence?
If the Holy Spirit is IN you, rely on HIS power. Have someone read Galatians 5:16-17.
** 7. The struggle is real. But with the Holy Spirit's power, we can align our desires with God's desires. Eventually, we are less and less tempted to do the wrong thing. Share how you have changed as a result of the Holy Spirit's power working in your life.**

8a. Read Galatians 5:22-23.
8b. As you consider the fruit that the Spirit produces - what fruit do you want to see more of in your life by the end of the year? How do you plan to do this?
Prayer 4U - Put names in a hat and have everyone pick a name. Pray for your person this week that he or she would rely on the Spirit's power to develop their chosen fruit.
Guided Prayer - (Leader, include the following in your prayer time). Father, thank you for your Spirit that lives within us. Help us to make choices that best care for our bodies. Make us aware of the needs of our fellow believers so we can care for them. Let us honor You in every situation that we find ourselves. And help us to understand that it's by your power, and not our own, that we can be made more like Jesus. AMEN
