• Meditation Verse: last week, we discussed Romans 6:23. How has this verse affected your life this week?

** Icebreaker - If you could have an all-access pass to any event, what would it be? **

We learned that King Herod rebuilt the temple "bigger and better" because he was trying to appease the people around him (so they would like him better). When have you done something to try to get people to like you?

Sean taught three points centered around the all-access pass that we have to God. Let's discuss.

God is holy, so the temple needed a curtain, but Jesus' death tore the curtain. Read Hebrews 10:19-20.

1. We can come boldly into God's presence because Jesus' death gives us an all-access pass. How often are you using your pass to come into God's presence?

2. How do you plan to use your pass more often?

We are dirty, so the temple needed a wash basin, but Jesus' death purified us from sin. Read Hebrews 10:22.

3. It doesn't matter what we've done - we've got an all-access pass because Jesus' blood makes us clean in God's eyes. But if we continue to feel guilty for sins that have been forgiven, we will be less effective for God's kingdom. Where are you less effective right now because you don't fully trust that you've been forgiven?

Sin is costly, so the temple needed an altar, but Jesus sacrificed his life. Read 1 Peter 2:24.

** 4. The magnitude of what Jesus did for us cannot be overstated - He paid for our all-access pass with his brutal death. In response to that, Paul is saying that we can now be dead to sin and live for what is right. This means we work to avoid temptations that could lead to sin. Share how you are working to avoid temptations that could lead to sin. **

5. Do you have any questions about what we have learned so far in the Temple series regarding "God is holy", "we are dirty" and "sin is costly?"

Prayer 4U - Put names in a hat and have everyone pick a name. Pray for your person this week that he or she would gain a new understanding of the magnitude of Jesus' sacrifice.

Guided Prayer - (Leader, include the following in your prayer time). Father, thank you that Jesus' death allows us to come boldly into your presence. Thank you that this allows you to see Christ's holiness and not our sins. Help us to understand the magnitude of that sacrifice and to live lives worthy of your calling. In Jesus' name, AMEN
