Enjoying Your Marriage Again, Again and Again – Proverbs 5:15-23

Drink water from your own well — share your love only with your wife.
16 Why spill the water of your springs in the streets, having sex with just anyone? 17 You should reserve it for yourselves. Never share it with strangers. 18 Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19 She is a loving deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love. 20 Why be captivated, my son, by an immoral woman, or fondle the breasts of a promiscuous woman? 21 For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes. 22 An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him. 23 He will die for lack of self-control; he will be lost because of his great foolishness. Proverbs 5:15-23 NLT

The health of your marriage’s is always based on the joy you put into making it right.

- The healthiest marriages are the ones each partner works and prioritize one another’s needs.

- Something needs adjusting in your marriage if you aren’t working to keep it refreshed and healthy, helping each other to be more secure in your relationship.

Run From Forbidden Relationships (5:20)

20 Why be captivated, my son, by an immoral woman, or fondle the breasts of a promiscuous woman? Proverbs 5:20 NLT

- If your passions and desires are fulfilled and lived out in your
own marriage, then you are less likely to settle for contaminated
water somewhere else.

- The grass is never greener on the other side when you fertilize and grow your own yard.

- Seeking satisfaction from anyone other than your spouse is a recipe for certain disaster.

Acknowledge God’s Presence (5:21)

21 For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes. Proverbs 5:21 NLT

Don’t try to hide from God…He can see and know everything you do.

When you ignore or refuse to acknowledge God’s perspective on your marriage, it’s an indicator of where you are spiritually.

Think about and consider what God would want you to work on and change in your marriage and then prioritize it above everything else.

Consider the Consequences (5:22-23)

22 An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him. 23 He will die for lack of self-control; he will be lost because of his great foolishness. Proverbs 5:22-23 NLT

- The enemy’s goal and sin’s intention for you and I… is to trap you and I slowly and progressively.

- Many families fall apart because one member refuses to practice discipline in the areas that matter most…so stay focused on Jesus and be committed to Jesus and to your spouse.

- Especially when no one is around…

- So…go out this week and be and stay committed to what God has giving you.
