LENT: Elisha Week 2 - STOP PLOWING. START DIGGING

You can’t hold the plow and the mantle at the same time.

What plow do you need to burn so you can fully follow Jesus?

Your greatest need becomes a gift when it drives you to depend on God.

2 Kings 3:9-10 NIV
So the king of Israel set out with the king of Judah and the king of Edom. After a roundabout march of seven days, the army had no more water for themselves or for the animals with them. 10“What!” exclaimed the king of Israel. “Has the Lord called us three kings together only to deliver us into the hands of Moab?”

2 Kings 3:11-12 NIV
But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?” An officer of the king of Israel answered, “Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.” Jehoshaphat said, “The word of the Lord is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to [Elisha].

2 Kings 3:14-15 NIV
Elisha said, “As the Lord of Armies, in whose presence I stand, if I did not respect King Jehoshaphat of Judah, I would not even look at you or acknowledge you. Now bring me a harpist.” ...

Worship…
⁃changes our perspective.
⁃invites God’s power.
⁃creates space to hear from God.

2 Kings 3:16 CSB
…and he said, “This is what the Lord says: :Dig ditch after ditch in this wadi (valley).”

1) Are you still holding onto a "Plow" (self-reliance) while asking for the "Mantle" (God's provision)?
2)Is your worship conditional on the rain, or is it the tool I use to dig the ditch?
3)What is the one "easy thing" I am treating like an "impossible thing” today?

2 Kings 3:17-18 CSB
“For the Lord says, ‘You will not see wind or rain, but this wadi will be filled with water, and you will drink—you and your cattle and your livestock. This is easy in the Lord’s sight. He will also hand Moab over to you.’”

Only God can send the water, but sometimes He asks you to dig a ditch.

What ditch do you need to dig to prepare you for what God wants to do?

2 Kings 3:20 CSB
“The next morning, about the time of the grain offering, water suddenly came from the direction of Edom and filled the land.”
