Everyone Is Being Impacting And Impacting Someone - 1 Thessalonians 2:7-12

Question: Has there been anyone in your life who has impacted you? By the way they live, what they do or how they do it?

Another Question: Who would say that you have impacted? Negative or positive?

As apostles of Christ we certainly had a right to make some demands of you, but instead we were like childrenamong you. Or we were like a mother feeding and caring for her own children. 8 We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God’s Good News but our own lives, too.
9 Don’t you remember, dear brothers and sisters, how hard we worked among you? Night and day we toiled to earn a living so that we would not be a burden to any of you as we preached God’s Good News to you. 10 You yourselves are our witnesses—and so is God—that we were devout and honest and faultless toward all of you believers. 11 And you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children. 12 We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you to share in his Kingdom and glory. 1 Thessalonians 2:7-12 NLT

Like a Mother (2:7-8)

As apostles of Christ we certainly had a right to make some demands of you, but instead we were like childrenamong you. Or we were like a mother feeding and caring for her own children. 8 We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God’s Good News but our own lives, too. 1 Thessalonians 2:9-10 NLT

- It’s ok to be passionate…but you also have to be gentle and kind with people as well helping and impacting others as they develop in all the necessary ways of becoming more like Jesus. (2:7).

- We don’t really love people completely…until we get intentional about their spiritual condition (2:8).

- A mother is kind, caring, gentle and protective…just a few ways we have to be with people to show them who Jesus is in our lives.

Like Brothers And Sisters (2:9-10)

9 Don’t you remember, dear brothers and sisters, how hard we worked among you? Night and day we toiled to earn a living so that we would not be a burden to any of you as we preached God’s Good News to you. 10 You yourselves are our witnesses—and so is God—that we were devout and honest and faultless toward all of you believers. 1 Thessalonians 2:9-10 NLT

- Brothers and sisters don’t always get along…they love each other but are willing to fight with each other if they need to.

- They joke and play around…sometimes to much and that leads to a fight…lol

- We shouldn’t want to be a “burden” to our brothers and sisters…we should be helping one another in good and bad difficult times. (2:9).

- The greatest lessons we will ever teach each other are what come from our character and integrity. (2:10).

Like a Father (2:11-12)

11 And you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children. 12 We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you to share in his Kingdom and glory. 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 NLT

- At some point in our lives, we have to take personal responsibility for somebody’s discipleship. To pour into someone else…to love them and give them wisdom and leadership so that they don’t run into potholes as they grow and go through life. (2:11).

- Discipleship…means that you have to be intentional and deliberate to mentor to teach someone how to follow God (2:12).

Closing Question:
Who is pouring into you…and who are you pouring into and impacting for God’s Kingdom?
