Focus Verse. Have someone read Ephesians 6:10-11. As a group, brainstorm a tattoo design that depicts this verse. Then choose an artist to draw it (bonus points if drawn on a person!)
** Icebreaker - What is one thing that you do on a consistent basis because it is good for you? **
Sean taught that we should understand the meaning of the armor of God in order to stand firm in our faith. Read Ephesians 6:10-13. Let's discuss.
First, the Belt of Truth. Satan is the deceiver; he wants us to buy the lies of our culture and our own insecurities.
1. Share a time when you overcame your own insecurities (doubts about yourself) by standing firm in God's truth.
Second, the Body Armor of God's Righteousness. You were saved to live a holy life. Righteousness is doing what is right and honoring God with our actions.
2. What are some things that you have decided in advance to NOT DO in order to live righteously?
Third, the Shoes of Peace that Comes from the Good News. Because Jesus suffered and died for us, we will be ready to go where he sends us.
The NIV says it this way "...with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace."
The NIV says it this way "...with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace."
3. Shoes definitely make it easier for us to go places. Are you ready to go share the Good News wherever God sends you? Why or Why not?
Fourth, the Shield of Faith. Each day I will trust God. He is in control and wants the best for me. Ephesians 6:16 says, "hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil."
The serpent didn't physically force Eve to eat the fruit; he simply led her to question whether God really loved her. When we take up the shield of faith, we are protected doubts, insecurities, lies, and deceptions that lead us to question God's love for us.
4. Why is it easier to choose to obey God when we 100% believe that He loves us?
4. Why is it easier to choose to obey God when we 100% believe that He loves us?
Fifth, the Helmet of Salvation. Each day, I will rest in hope. My future is secure because of my rescue by Christ.
5. Have you ever questioned your salvation?
5b. Read Ephesians 2:8-9. "God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it." Based on this scripture, what would you tell someone who was questioning their salvation?

Sixth, the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Each day, I will READ the Bible. The Bible is how I push back against sin's temptation; if I'm not in the Bible, the Bible is not in me in the time of need.
7. Can you honestly say that the Bible is in you to the point where you can push back against any temptation?
Seventh, Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Our battle against sin can only be fought with God's Strength and His Power.
** 8. Share a time when you were able to fight against temptation because you chose to pray. **
Prayer 4U - The [New Year Name Here] statement this week was "For this New Year, I will stand strong." On a piece of paper, write your name and the piece of armor that you plan to work on this week. Pass the paper to the person on your right. Pray for your person this week.
Guided Prayer - (Leader, include the following in your prayer time). Father, we want to live holy lives that honor you. Give us wisdom to discern truth from distorted truth. And give us strength to stand strong as we decide in advance to live righteously. Increase our faith and trust in you. Draw us to you and into your Word so that we can stand firm every day against every attack. Thank you that we can pray to you at all times and that you are faithful to us. In Jesus' name, AMEN
