Restore Us, O God
Grief, the struggles of life, sin and its consequences. Sometimes hiding the hurt seems easiest - even trying to hide from God! Yet the troubles and struggles of life should be brought to God directly. This is the heart of lament. When you go to God with questions of "how" and "what now", you lament the brokenness of God's good Creation with Him. When the life seems out of sorts, God's presence is our only refuge.

Life Group Questions
This Life Group season runs from February 8-March 21, 2025.
1) Read Psalm 102, a personal lament. As you read through the Psalm, focus first on this: How does the Psalmist address God?
2) What elements of God’s character stand out?
3) Why would it matter for a lament to highlight God’s character?
4) This Psalm has vivid imagery. What images of lament stand out to you most? In what ways do you resonate with the images the Psalmist uses?
5) Verses 18 and 27-28 reference future generations. How important is it that children see their parents (and other adults) grieve and lament?
6) Where do you find hope in this passage? What reason does the Psalmist have to look up to God in the midst of trials?
7) Where do you see encouragement for your own life in this Psalm? How can you turn the language of this Psalm into a prayer for today?
