1 Corinthians 15:35-58
The first refutation in vs 1-34explains the consequences of denying the resurrection

denying resurrection of Jesus = denying our resurrection = a worthless religion, our pointless life

The second refutation in vs 35-58explains a correct view of our resurrection bodies
Since God is powerful to save us thru the Cross and Resurrection of Christ, we know He is able to transform us bodily to live for eternity with Him.

The Argument for Resurrected Christlike bodies:
If there is a body for the earth-bound life, then there is a body for the everlasting life.
-Creation provides ample illustrations of resurrection (36-37)
-Creator who designed can do this (38-42)
-Contrasting examples of modes of living (42-44)

Our physical body is buried in…
corruptibility
dishonor
weakness
natural body

The resurrection body is raised in...
incorruptibility
glory
power
spiritual body
The resurrected Jesus creates a new humanity: body and spirit forever
“If humans take the shape of the first Adam sown with a body made from the dust that goes back to dust, then Christians will take the shape of Christ (the last Adam) in their heavenly existence, who is from heaven and has a spiritual body…this bodily transformation is future, until then we continue to live bodily in the dust.” Garland
As Followers of Christ we eagerly await our instant transformation when Christ returns
Secret or mystery = something formerly undiscoverable by human effort but now revealed by God

we will all be transformed…

-in a moment
-blink of an eye
-when the last trumpet sounds: Mt 24/1Thess 4

The law = 10 commandments bring awareness of sin but no solution for it
