Obedience and Opposition often go together.

Moses and Aaron had been obedient. They are showing this by sharing with Pharaoh that the God of Israel, YAHWEH, would like for Pharaoh to let his people go and worship him in the wilderness. Part of Pharaoh’s opposition to God’s message delivered by Moses and Aaron was a result of a wrong view of both himself and YAHWEH - he viewed himself as a bigger god than YAHWEH. The other part of his opposition to God’s message was the fact that Pharaoh had no intention of losing the greatest energy source in all of Egypt.
Opposition turns to Oppression

After denying the power of YAHWEH and his words, Pharaoh asserted the authority of his own words by demanding that things get worse for the Israelites by way of…Not giving them the necessary straw to make bricks. While at the same time, keeping the quota of bricks they needed to make the same. Because of the way the Egyptians made bricks, this oppressive requirement was devastating to the Israelites physically, emotionally and mentally.
Moses' Response

As stated before, rather than making things better in our lives, sometimes obedience to God can make things seem worse. However, even if we acknowledge this reality, like the Israelites and even Moses himself, it can become easy for us to find ourselves disappointed, discouraged and even angry toward God.

Moses questioned: God’s GOODNESS - “why have you done evil to this people?” God’s PURPOSE - “why did you ever send me?” God’s ACTIONS - “why have you not delivered your people at all?”Have you ever questioned God in one of these three areas in your life before?

God responded by revealing Himself even more, to Moses. God wanted Moses to understand that he was still very much in control of the situation, and was completely capable of bringing them into the promised land and giving it to them for a possession.
