GRATITUDE & GRUMBLING
SCRIPTURE
In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. Acts 6:1
GRUMBLING & GRATITUDE
Do all things without grumbling. Philippians 2:14
Do not grumble against one another. James 5:9
Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 1 Peter 4:9
Give thanks in all circumstances. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Be thankful. Colossians 3:15
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. Psalm 136:1
1/ Grumbling is a sin against God. Gratitude is sweet to God.
“Your grumbling is not against us but against the Lord.” Exodus 16:8
2/ Grumbling dismisses what God has done. Gratitude dwells on what God has done.
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt.” Exodus 20:2

3/ Grumbling fixates on what we don’t have. Gratitude focuses on what we do have.
“If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. But now we have lost our appetite. We never see anything but this manna!” Numbers 11:4-6
4/ Grumbling brings consequences. Gratitude brings contentment.
And do not grumble, as some of Israel did and were killed by the destroying angel.

The tongue has the power of life and death. Proverbs 18:21
Grumbling pollutes the soul, while gratitude prospers the soul.
5/ Grumbling enlarges. Gratitude evolves.

6/ Grumbling reveals a lack of faith. Gratitude reveals loads of faith.
Israel did not believe His Word but grumbled in their tents. Psalm 106:24

My wife aggravates me with chores! I’m grateful I have a woman who loves me
& our home!
I am so frustrated at my job! I’m grateful I can feed my family!
My kids are so hyper! I’m grateful my kids can walk!
