1. The Heart of God is Compassionate
Compassion (Greek splanchnizomai) – A feeling from the gut. The deepest level of a person's feelings.
Distressed – “troubled, beaten down, to be made weary.”
2. The Harvest is Abundant
3. The Mission Calls Us to Pray and Participate
Our mission is to help people find and follow Jesus Christ, here and around the world.
Our vision is multiplying healthy, gospel-centered churches to fulfill the Great Commission in southwest Florida and beyond.
The compassionate love of God empowers us to compassionately love people who need God.
1. Remember God's compassion for you
2. Reveal God's compassion through you
3. Respond in prayer and obedience

Dig Deeper:

1. When did you become a part of The Bridge Church? What are you praising God for during this 25th anniversary celebration?
2. Why do you think people serve as volunteer leaders at The Bridge Church? How can we continue to encourage those who faithfully serve each week?
3. Read Matthew 9:35-39. There are many things we can take away from this passage. What stands out to you first upon reading it?
4. What did Jesus focus on in His ministry during His time on Earth?
5. What would happen to sheep without a shepherd?
6. Why do you think He said “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few” after having compassion when looking at the crowds?
7. What is He referring to when He mentions “harvest”? Who are the “workers”?
8. Read Matthew 9:26. Outside of this passage, how do we know that the heart of God is compassionate?
9. What does it mean to be distressed and dejected? Why did they feel this way?
10. Read Luke 15:4-7. How do shepherds care for their sheep? Why do they care for their sheep?
11. Discuss ways in which you have witnessed God’s compassionate love in your own live and/or in the lives of others.
12. How can we reflect God’s love to others? List or discuss as many ways as you can.
13. Read Matthew 9:37. How do we know that “the harvest is abundant” remains true today? Provide examples from your own life.
14. How do we know that “the workers are few” remains true today?
15. What happens before a harvest? What must happen after a harvest? What goes into a harvest being produced?
16. Read John 4:35. How can we “open our eyes” in our daily lives?
17. Do you view your neighborhood, school, workplace, etc. a mission field? Why or why not?
18. Read Matthew 9:38. Who saves people? Who leads people to God to be saved?
19. Read Matthew 28:18-20. What is this passage called? Who is He commissioning? Unpack this passage verse by verse. Who has authority? Why is that important? How is always with us? Why is that important? What are we called to do? How?
20. What is the mission of The Bridge Church? What does it mean to find and follow? Why are those both important?
21. The Bridge Church has a vision of multiplying healthy, gospel-centered churches to fulfill the Great Commission in southwest Florida and beyond. What is the purpose of multiplying a church? How does a church become multiplied? Who participates in multiplying?
22. Why do the people of The Bridge Church have a heart to make room for one more? Who is your One More?
23. Read Ephesians 3:20-21. The church isn’t a building, an institution, or a business. It is a faith family on mission for Jesus Christ! How are you, or how would you like to, participate in the mission and vision of The Bridge Church?

Live It Out:

The compassionate love of God empowers us to compassionately love people who need God. A world in crisis needs a compassionate church. This week, reflect and act upon:

Remembering God’s compassion for you. We must continually be reminded of God’s incredible compassion. He showers us with mercy, love, and patience. When we remember His love, He helps us know how to look at others.

Revealing God’s compassion to others. God has placed you in relationships where He has given you an influence. Think about how you can reveal God’s compassion and love to the people around you.

Responding in prayer and obedience. Jesus saw the need! The need for people to be saved! They were helpless, confused…This is true in southwest Florida. Do you have a burden for the thousands of people in our communities that are without faith in Jesus?

Ask God to help you identify one person you can, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to lead to Christ this year. Can you imagine what would happen if each one reached one more?
