The word for the year is Advance.
Advance - To accelerate growth or progress of. To move forward. To progress in development. To intentionally and aggressively take ground.

Just because you’re aging, doesn’t mean you’re maturing
We weren’t meant to stay baby Christians - There should be progression and growth.

3 Markers of Maturity
1. What we consume - What we put into us.
- 14 Then we will no longer be immature tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. Not be influenced by lies so clever they sound like the truth.

Mature followers of Jesus aren’t blown around by false teachings that sound like truth - because they are feeding themselves solid food. They recognize right and wrong.
How can I know what’s “spiritual” and what’s “biblical”? - Get in the WORD! You have to TRAIN yourself to grow. You have to DISCIPLINE yourself.

If we consumed more of the word we would not be consumed by things in this world.
Mature people invite correction - Immature people despise it!
You develop an appetite for whatever you feed yourself the most.

3 Markers of Maturity
1. What we consume - What we put into us.
2. What we say - What comes out of us.
- Eph. 4:15 - We will speak the truth in love, growing more and more like Christ.

If you just say what you want, when you want, how you want…you’re not mature.
Immature people either speak truth without love, or love without speaking truth.

1. What we consume - What we put into us.
2. What we say - What comes out of us.
3. What we do - How we live our lives
- Eph 4:16 As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love - This is a picture of maturity

A mature person meets the demands of life. An immature person demands that life meet their needs. - Henry Cloud
Maturing is a life-long process of continually taking steps in your walk with God.
Maturing is a byproduct of our salvation not the merit of our salvation!
He continues to form us and transform us. - That’s the goal. To be more like Christ
