Welcome
We begin our prayers with praise because Jesus instructed that prayer begins with who God is, where He is, and with an active longing that our kingdoms become more like His.
God Summons Us
Call to Worship
Leader: Answer us when we call, O God of my righteousness!
All: You have given us relief when we were in distress.
Leader: Be gracious to us and hear our prayer!
All: the Lord hears when we call to him.
Leader: We put your trust in the Lord.
All: Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!
Leader: for You have put joy in our heart
All: for you alone, O Lord, make us dwell in safety. And so we worship you!
Adapted from Psalm 4

Silent Personal Confession
The Psalmist models a transparent faith with these words,
"23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!”
One way we express our longing for God’s leading is through our own transparent confession.
Unison Confession
God of everlasting love,
we confess that we have been unfaithful
to our covenant with you and with one another.
We have worshiped other gods: money, power, greed, and convenience.
We have served our own self-interest
instead of serving only you.
We have not loved our neighbor as you have commanded.
Forgive us, gracious God,
and bring us back into the fullness
of our covenant with you and one another.
Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Declaration of Forgiveness
The grace, mercy, forgiveness and peace of Christ, through the Holy Spirit, has preceded us in this moment. We are a forgiven and strengthened people because of the Father Heart of God, the work of Jesus Christ, and the indwelling, unfailing love of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Passing the Peace
The peace of the Lord be with you.
And also with you.

Sermon Notes:
Lord’s Supper
Children: Why do we give thanks and praise before this table?
All: We give thanks for God’s work of creation, liberation, and salvation.
Elder: It is indeed right, our duty and delight, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to you, O holy Lord, eternal God.
You created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them; you made us in your own image; and in countless ways you show us your mercy. Therefore, with choirs of angels and the whole company of heaven, we worship and adore your glorious name, joining our voices in their unending praise:
All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Elder: All glory and blessing are yours, O holy God, for in your mercy you gave your only Son, Jesus Christ. He took our human nature and suffered death on the cross for our redemption. There he made a perfect sacrifice for the sins for the whole world. We praise you that before he suffered and
died, our Savior gave us this holy sacrament and commanded us to continue it until he comes again.
Children: Why do we eat bread at this table?
Elder: On the night before he died, Jesus took bread. After giving thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take, eat. This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
Children: Why do we drink from the cup at this table?
Elder: The same night Jesus took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant sealed in my blood, shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in remembrance of me.”
Children: What do we remember at this table?
Elder: We remember God’s gracious love for us, Christ’s death and resurrection for us, and the Spirit’s tender care for us. Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:
All: Dying, you destroyed our death; rising, you restored our life. Lord Jesus, come in glory.
Elder: Merciful God, pour out your Holy Spirit on these gifts of bread and wine, that in eating and drinking we may be made one with Christ and one another.
All: Amen.
Elder: Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ, now and forever.
All: Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
—based on 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Communion
Let us pray:
Eternal God, you have graciously accepted us as living members of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, and you have fed us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of his body and blood. Send us now into the world in peace, and grant us strength and courage to love and serve you with gladness and singleness of heart, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
