A Real Life Nativity: Entering the Joy | December 14 | Luke 2:1-21
Locations & Times
Central Christian Church
2900 N Rock Rd, Wichita, KS 67226, USA
Sunday 9:30 AM
1. The great Sacred
2. The great Lamb
3. The great Shepherd
4. The great Joy
Key Theme:
At Christmas, God confronts the false sources of peace and joy that the world offers (power, comfort, wealth, distraction), revealing in Jesus the true sacred one, the great lamb, and the great shepherd. The joy of Christmas is not automatic or emotional; it’s a spiritual reality we must choose to enter by faith, humility, and trust in Christ.
Key Application:
We are invited to leave distraction, pride, and self-reliance to enter into the joy that comes through knowing Jesus as Savior, Lord, and Shepherd.
Key Verses:
Isaiah 9:6-7 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.”
Key Questions:
1. When you think about Christmas joy, what does it typically look or feel like for you? How might that differ from the deeper joy Luke 2 points us to?
2. Have you ever sensed joy “in the room,” maybe in worship, or during Christmas, but felt like you couldn’t enter into it? What kept you from doing so?
3. How might you help others, your family, friends, or congregation, enter into the joy of Christmas this year?

Church family, we praise God for how faithfully in so many respects you give. Our church family is undeniably generous, but we still have great needs for supplication. We ask that you give joyfully, faithfully and sacrificially in response to how our great God and Savior has given to us.
