Scripture: Luke 2:8-12, 15-18
Two reasons the news of the arrival of Jesus as your Savior should be received with great joy:
1. You need saving.
2. No one else can save you but him.
Jesus is the Savior to celebrate because:
1. Jesus is holy and blameless.
2. Jesus is victorious and exalted.
3. Jesus is forever interceding for you.
Here are 4 practical ways to cultivate your joy in Jesus:
1) Take a walk outside and talk yourself through why you have good reason to have joy over Jesus as your Savior.
2) Start our featured Advent devotional on YouVersion [the slide with a QR code]. Spend time daily contemplating the arrival of Jesus and its benefits for you.
3) Journal a conversation with Jesus about your sorrow and frustration this Christmas season and then follow it up by journaling a conversation with your soul on why you have good reason to find joy in Jesus as your Savior this Christmas season. This format of venting and then reminding oneself why you have faith in God is a format of many Psalms.
4) Put on some music and worship. Redirect your focus to what is painful in your life to the wonder of goodness of God toward you in Jesus.
