WONDERFUL COUNSELOR
SCRIPTURE
For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
The wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. 1 Corinthians 3:19
Navigating these final days requires a wisdom that’s from another world.
WISE COUNSEL
1/ The Counsel of Common Sense
2/ The Counsel of Conscience
Remember C.S. Lewis’ writings about the “ought” factor.
The heart is deceitful above all things. Jeremiah 17:9
3/ The Counsel of the Saints
God uses parents as counselors.
Listen…to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. Proverbs 1:8
God uses friends as counselors.
The pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice. Proverbs 27:9
God uses mental health professionals as counselors.
God uses older, experienced people as counselors.
Wisdom belongs to the aged and understanding to the old. Job 12:12
God uses spiritual leaders as counselors.
Choose your spiritual leaders carefully. Then listen to them!
God uses people with the spiritual gift of wisdom as counselors.

The Word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12
The unfolding of Your words gives light. It imparts understanding. Psalm 119:130
The Bible doesn’t always provide specific direction but does guide us in principles.

5/ The Counsel of the Spirit
I bless the Lord who gives me counsel. Psalm 16:7
“The Counselor, the Holy Spirit—the Father will send Him in My name—will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.” John 14:26
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with My loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8
The Counsel of the Spirit will always come into alignment with the Counsel of Scripture.
God understands you the way no one else can.
We do not have a high priest (Jesus) who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses. Hebrews 4:15
God has the foresight no one else has.
Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord? Who knows enough to give Him advice or teach Him? Isaiah 40:13
God has wisdom no one else has.
My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” Isaiah 55:8
God has the solutions no one else has.
In Christ lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:3
