Sermon Title: The Gift of Redemption

Redemption is a gift because…

Hebrews 9:12-14

By living fully human under the law, then dying and rising back to life, he fulfilled the law - he did what none of the other sacrifices could have - and he instituted something new - redemption and life through Him

And we cannot save ourselves through our own works, systems, efforts - Only faith in the free gift of redemption through Christ can do that! Only he can bring wholeness, forgiveness, reconciliation and true change.

Galatians 4:6-7”6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” 7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child.“

1 Peter 2:9 says, “...you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession.

It is an identity maker for the people of God - We are a redeemed people - it changes our identity and takes us from slavery to children, from dark to light, from death to life, from bondage to freedom

Galatians 5:13, 16 ‘13 For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love…16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”

Ephesians 5:8 “For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!”

Being redeemed must change how we live, or we miss the whole point of the gift

Let your life reflect the reality that you have been redeemed!
