STUDY AND DISCUSSION
This series is based on the idea that (1) God made a promise, (2) Jesus fulfilled that promise and (3) one day we will experience the complete fulfillment of that promise.

Explore these three aspects by studying the Scriptures below and responding to the questions that follow. Don’t rush through this guide. The goal is not to get right answers or even answer all the questions, but to have thoughtful discussions that lead to renewed minds and transformed hearts.

▶️ What stands out to you about the way God recounts David’s story in verses 8-9?

▶️ If God were to name defining moments in your life the same way He did for David–reminding you of His presence and guidance–what moments might He highlight?

▶️ What’s the correlation between God raising up a king with the idea of Him being a Father?

▶️ When have you experienced God’s discipline in a way that ultimately affirmed His love for you?

▶️ What does it look like to cling to God’s faithfulness when your own faith feels fragile or inconsistent?

▶️ What does it mean that Jesus is the Root and the Offspring of David?

▶️ How does God quenching our thirst relate to Him being a king?

▶️ What comfort or courage can you draw from God’s promise to David when facing uncertainty or instability in life?

Compare and contrast Revelation 19:11-16 with Revelation 22:1-5.

THE BIG TAKEAWAY
That was a lot of study and reflection! The good news is that God wants to say something to you personally. Something that applies to your life. Pause and ask Him how He feels about you and what He wants you to know. Allow for a couple of minutes of silence and listen for Him to speak.

MEMORIZE SCRIPTURE
One of the best ways to hear God in your daily life is to have His words rooted in your heart. Memorize this Scripture, trusting God will bring His words to mind at just the right time.
