Drop the thinking of how much you are āsacrificingā to honor your spouse, almost like a running tally in your mind. That isnāt honor, thatās a transaction which says, "Iām only doing this because Iām expecting something in return.ā

Submitting and respecting is to respect their position of leadership in the home and recognizing the responsibility to God that they carry to lead their home and family.

Yes, there are boundaries. You are not being told to stay in an abusive relationship.
Honoring our spouse sets the model for our kids. They are watching and learning. They see how you treat each other and it sets the model for how your kids will honor you as their parents.

Children need regular encouragement. We dishonor them not only when we speak harsh or negative words to them but also when we fail to praise or accept them at the right time.
Our children will grow into what we speak over them. They rise or fall to our words of expectation and value.

All you have to do to be reminded of what a reward children are is to talk to someone who doesnāt have children or isnāt able to have children and your perspective will be shifted.

How we work to earn an income is honoring or dishonoring to God as well.
Homes with financial stress and burden have so much more chaos, typically marriage and family discord, and even their physical health is affected because they canāt sleep, arenāt eating well, etc.
Make the hard decisions now before you are so far down the road that you havenāt only destroyed yourself financially, but that your kids pay the price for your lack of honor in your finances, and their own financial problems because they learned bad practice from you.
Without God, there is nothing but chaos, confusion, inner turmoil, and hopelessness. Even if for a season, life feels great, until you honor God with your life, you will face things in your life and in your home that you cannot deal with apart from God.
