“And That’s a Wrap”
Revelation 3
Ephesus (2:1-7)—“The Religious Church”

Evaluation Criteria
Banner verse: Matthew 7:24 (truth/action)
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

John 1:14b (grace/truth)
We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 17:3 (relationship)
Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

John 14:15 (love/obedience)
If you love me, you will obey what I command.
The Church of Sardis (3:1-6)
Commendation (v. 4)—not everyone is guilty

You still have a few Christians in Sardis who haven't ruined themselves wallowing in the muck of the world’s ways.

Commendation—all the boxes checked, patient endurance

Commendation—NONE
Correction—none of the boxes checked, unaware of their condition

“The Lukewarm Church”

So…Summary

- Two churches had no correction and were healthy (about 30%), two had no commendation and toxic to Christ’s kingdom (about 30%), and three (about 40%) have some things going for them but have to address other areas of health

- Areas of correction: Compromise

- Areas of commendation: Living out the truth, faith-driven works, doctrinal purity, patiently enduring
Now...
Be responsive to the correction of Jesus, celebrate those areas of strength
